Oh Jon, you didn't! Now, look us in the eye and tell us that wasn't you. You
can't do it, can you.
Seriously, Jon, these pranks have to stop. It was funny at first, when you
just did little harmless things here and there, but it's getting out of
hand. Careers are at stake.
I mean, no-one laughed harder than I when you showed Stuart Pearce a
computer-generated image of his wife giving Gascoigne a blow-job in 1990,
just as he was about to take his penalty. It was hilarious the way he lost
his concentration and missed. But, the point is, you left him alone to take
his penalty in '96. You knew where to draw the line.
Similarly, when you changed the time on Ronaldo's clock, so he completely
overslept for the '98 Final, everyone applauded your comic flair. The reason
no-one minded was because you were kind enough to leave the alarm switched
on, so that Ronaldo still made it to the match, but only just, and in a
state of complete confusion and bewilderment. How everyone (including his
team-mates) giggled as he stumbled round the field, rubbing his eyes and
swallowing his tongue. What a brilliant end to an otherwise unfunny
tournament.
These days, well, you just go too far. Your ruthless victimisation of Ade
Akinbiyi, for instance, has been upsetting to watch. I suppose it was quite
funny, two years ago, when you first started putting absinthe in his
pre-match energy drinks, but you kept doing it, Jon. And then, you kept
doing it, and you kept doing it. Two years on, his career is in tatters, and
you're _still_ doing it. Leave the man alone, Jon, he's had enough.
Joe
